Interesting discussion on religion at the end. I myself was raised Methodist on my mother’s side with some Catholicism from my father’s side. During my formative years, I was taught to believe the Bible as fact. While I never really went to church, during the six months or so that I was homeless (the first time), my mother would read out loud from the Bible to my grandmother and myself. Not for inspiration or worship, but because there was no television down by the river.
Not only did I never question the teachings of Christianity, I remember having religious experiences as a young man in my late teens and early 20s and at least 1 bonafide in yer face miracle. Within the last 5-7 years, my faith in the Bible as the word of God has all but faded and I have found it very difficult to let go of the last strings of that belief, or perhaps the wanting for that belief to have been true. Arthur joked about it being a zombie tale, I have to admit thoughts like that have crossed my mind, not to mention the stories, the concept, the concept of Hell and the way the entire book is written for the use of an elite minority to control a willingly ignorant majority has made me despise the book and those who have edited and rewritten it for their own corrupted power. I can no longer call myself a Christian or look to it for peace of mind. That is not, however, to say I have lost faith in a universal consciousness. I believe in a spirituality and a connection between all living things. (I won’t bore Paul with details.). However I felt moved enough to leave this comment. Also, Arthur, my mother’s beliefs sound much like your parents’ these days. Have been enjoying your discussions and the topics. Looking forward to more!
great show – if I were Romney I would not show any more tax returns then what is standard and he has done that. I think that Romney will pick Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio or Tim Pawlenty – although the Gov of VA has become shortlisted. I think Portman is also highly probable. I am betting on Ryan. Polling shows that Portman would carry Ohio, Polling shows Ryan would carry WI, possibly OH and several states. Polling shows Rubio helps with FL but not with any other States.
I sided with Ron Paul 97%
